Role Reversal [Jan. 29th, 2017|12:01 pm]
The Eidolon
Vivian is using more words these days, not always in a standard context.

For example, "xie xie" (thank you) to her means:
Please take this random object which I am now handing you.

She probably remembers us saying "xie xie" when we feign gratitude for objects
which she has handed us in the past, and now associates the phrase with her
handing us things rather than the concept of gratitude, which is more abstract.

I remember when Peter used to do that. He'd say, "Thank you!!!" and hand you something. I always assumed it was because that's the noise we'd say when he gave us something we wanted. I love watching kids work out the concept of 'self' and what they should say vs what they want the other person to say.
